Lesson 4: Mind your manners
PELAJARAN 4: Ingat sopan santun anda
John: Hey Rocky, can I have a word with you?
L1: Hey Rocky, boleh saya bicara dengan kamu?
Rocky: Sure.
L1: Tentu saja.
John: Maybe we could go out to the patio, it’s quiet there.
Rocky: What’s up?
L1: Ada apa?
John: Nothing major. How do you like it here?
L1: Tidak ada yang penting. Bagaimana, senang disini?
Rocky: It’s great. They’re good people.
L1: Senang. Mereka baik sekali.
John: Yeah, they like you too.
L1: Yeah, mereka juga senang dengan kamu.
Rocky: Yes well, I’m a loveable guy!
L1: Ya, well, memang banyak yang senang dengan saya!
John: Yeah, you’re fitting in really well. There’s just a couple of things.
L1: Yeah, kamu cepat menyesuaikan diri. Tapi ada dua hal.
Rocky: Am I doing something wrong?
L1: Apakah saya melakukan kesalahan?
John: Well, you answered your mobile at the table while we were having dinner tonight.
L1: Well, kamu menjawab HP di meja ketika kita sedang makan.
Rocky: Oh. Is that wrong?
L1: Oh. Apakah itu salah?
John: It’s just considered a bit impolite.
L1: Itu dianggap agak kurang sopan.
Rocky: I see.
L1: Oh begitu.
John: And I’ve noticed you get up and leave without saying anything.
L1: Dan saya perhatikan kamu langsung berdiri dan pergi tanpa mengatakan sesuatu.
Rocky: Oh sorry.
L1: Oh maaf.
John: You don’t have to apologise. Just remember to excuse yourself when you leave, that’s all.
Rocky: These things don’t matter at home. I guess I’ve got a lot to learn.
John: Don’t worry about it. I had a lot more to learn when I first arrived.
L1: Jangan kuatir.
Rocky: Really?
L1: Oh ya?
John: Mmm. They took me aside and told me I was standing too close to people. They have a thing about space here.
L1: Mmm. Mereka menjaga jarak disini.
Rocky: Yeah, new culture, new rules eh? Thanks for setting me straight.
L1: Yeah, budaya baru, peraturan baru ya? Terimakasih lho sudah mengoreksi saya.
John: No worries. So what are you up to tomorrow?
L1: Tidak apa-apa. So apa rencanamu besok ?

L1: Saya akan mencari kursus bahasa Inggris. Saya ingin mengambil kursus pendek selagi disini.
