Pelajaran 6: Pembicaraan di Kafe

Rocky: Hi, have you ordered yet?

L1: Hai, sudah pesan?

Angel: Yeah. We’ve ordered two cappuccinos. That’s coffee.

L1: Yeah. Kami sudah memesan dua cappuccino. Itu kopi.

Rocky: I’ve never had one of those. Do I order over there?

L1: Saya belum pernah mencoba itu. Apakah saya harus kesana untuk memesan?

Katie: Yes.

L1: Ya.

Rocky: OK. I’ll be back in a minute. How do you say it?

L1: OK. Sebentar ya. Apa namanya?

Angel: Cap-a-cheeno. Cappuccinno.

Rocky: Cappuccino.

Angel: So how’s your homestay, Katie?

L1: Bagaimana homestay-mu, Katie?

Katie: Well, the family is nice but they have a dog and it likes to sleep on my bed!

L1: Well keluarganya sih baik, tapi mereka punya anjing dan anjing itu suka tidur di tempat tidur saya!

Angel: Oh no! You can talk to your homestay mum about that. Just let her know you’re not comfortable with it.

L1: Aduh! Kamu bisa bicara dengan homestay mum kamu tentang itu. Bilang saja kamu tidak merasa nyaman.

Katie: Yes, I guess I’ll have to. How’s your place?

L1: Ya, kayaknya saya harus bicara. Bagaimana dengan tempatmu?

Angel: It’s a great house and Magda is really friendly, but there’s guy who lives there, Kel… he’s pretty cold.

L1: Rumahnya bagus dan Magda benar-benar ramah, tetapi ada seorang lagi yang tinggal disana, Kel… orangnya dingin.

Rocky: So how do you like Melbourne?

L1: So bagaimana, kamu suka Melbourne?

Katie: It’s really clean and pretty, don’t you think?

Rocky: Yeah, but there are some pretty cool places to go at night. And John took me to a market last week. I bought this jacket.

Angel: It’s nice.

L1: Bagus.

Rocky: Yeah, my Mickey Mouse one didn’t really cut it here.

Waitress: Three cappuccinos

L1: Tiga cappuccino.

Katie: Thank you. Hey Rocky, where’d you get your phone?

Rocky: Oh I got it from a place in the city. John’s been here a while so he knows the best deals. The phone cost about seventy and I buy pre-paid cards so I can’t overspend.

Angel: That’s a good idea. I found a great international phone card. I can call my Mum from the home phone… More than 300 minutes for $10.

English: The other students in my house are very noisy!

L1: Oh ya? Menyebalkan sekali.

English: Really? What a pain.

L1: Mudah kalau mau kemana-mana disini.

English: It’s easy to get around here.

L1: Ya, memang?

English: Yes, isn’t it?

L1: Kadang orang tidak mengerti karena aksen saya.

English: Sometimes people don’t understand my accent.

L1: Sama.

English: Same here.

L1: Oh ya? Menarik.

English: Really? That’s interesting.

L1: Saya suka sekali dengan keluarga homestay saya.

English: I really like my host family.

L1: Bagus.

English: That’s good.

L1: Sudah pernah naik tram?

English: Have you been on a tram yet?

L1: Belum, kamu sudah?

English: No, have you?

L1: Ya, asyik.

English: Yes, it was fun.

L1: Oh ya? Saya harus mencobanya.

English: Really? I must try it.

Katie: Excuse me Jenny?

L1: Maaf Jenny?

Jenny: Yes, Katie. Come in.

L1: Ya, Katie. Silahkan masuk.

Katie: I’d like to talk to you about something if that’s OK. Is now a good time?

L1: Saya ingin berbicara tentang sesuatu, kalau boleh. Apakah sekarang waktu yang tepat?

Jenny: Sure. I’m just making a cake for tomorrow. Grab a stool.

L1: Tentu saja. Saya cuma sedang bikin kue untuk besok. Ambil kursi.

Katie: Thanks.

L1: Terima kasih.

Katie: Well. It’s Sushi. She’s sleeping on my bed. I try to keep my door closed but somehow she gets in.

L1: Tentang Sushi. Ia tidur di tempat tidur saya. Saya berusaha supaya pintu kamar saya tetap tertutup, tapi entah bagaimana dia bisa masuk.

Jenny: Oh, I didn’t realise that was happening. Thanks for telling me. I’ll put the pet gate at the entrance of the hall so she can’t get to any of the back rooms. Is that OK?

L1: Oh, saya tidak tahu itu. Terimakasih sudah memberitahu.

Saya akan pasang pagar anjing di jalan masuk ke hall supaya dia tidak dapat masuk ke semua ruangan di belakang. OK?

Katie: Yes, that’ll be great thanks. … And what’s the best way to stop her from jumping up at me?

L1: Ya, terimakasih banyak. … Dan bagaimana caranya ya supaya dia tidak melompat ke saya ?

Jenny: Say “Down, Sushi, Down!”

L1: Bilang “Turun, Sushi, Turun!”

Katie: Yes, but I don’t like her to jump on me at all. Not even once.

L1: Ya, tapi saya ingin dia tidak melompat ke saya sama sekali. Sama sekali.

Jenny: I see. Well, I can make sure she’s in the yard when you come home, if you like. Would that help? It’s only when people come in the front door that she jumps on

them.

L1: Oh begitu. Baik, kalau mau, saya bisa usahakan supaya ia berada di halaman kalau kamu pulang. Apakah itu membantu? Hanya kalau ada orang datang di pintu depan ia akan melompat ke mereka.

Katie: That would help a lot. I hope it’s not too much trouble.

L1: Itu akan sangat membantu. Saya harap tidak terlalu merepotkan.

Jenny: Not at all. I’ll tell Dylan to watch her too.

L1: Sama sekali tidak. Nanti saya kasih tahu Dylan untuk mengawasinya juga.

Jenny: Is there anything else Katie? Anything else worrying you?

L1: Ada lagi Katie? Ada lagi yang merisaukanmu ?

Katie: I don’t know. I guess I just miss my family.

L1: Saya tidak tahu. Kayaknya saya kangen keluarga.

Jenny: That’s really understandable.

L1: Itu dapat dimengerti.

Katie: Everyone at school seems to be coping really well but I feel very lonely.

L1: Semua orang di sekolah nampaknya bisa menyesuaikan diri dengan baik, tetapi saya merasa sangat kesepian.

Jenny: I bet they’re feeling a bit wobbly too. Look, it’s the first time you’ve been away from your family. You have to adapt to a whole different culture.

L1: Pasti mereka merasa agak sulit juga. Begini, ini adalah pertama-kalinya kamu jauh dari keluarga. Kamu harus menyesuaikan dengan budaya yang sama sekali

Katie: When will I start feeling better?

Jenny: Well, talking to me about it is a good start. Talk to your friends about it too, you’ll find that most of them experience some level of homesickness. You’re not alone.

L1: Yah, berbicara dengan saya adalah permulaan yang baik.

Bicaralah dengan teman-temanmu juga, nanti kamu akan tahu bahwa kebanyakan mereka sedikit banyak kangen rumah juga. Kamu tidak sendirian.

Katie: The trouble is… I just don’t feel like going out when I’m like this. I just don’t feel like I have that much to say to people.

L1: Masalahnya … saya tidak ingin keluar kalau lagi begini. Rasanya seperti tidak tahu mau bilang apa.

Jenny: Katie, the best thing you can do is go out when you feel like this. Be with people and do fun things. You don’t have to speak a lot, or be the life of the party, just relax with friends. Just know that the feeling will pass. But if it doesn’t, let me know. I can take you to the doctor.

L1: Katie, yang terbaik adalah pergi keluar kalau kamu lagi begini. Ngumpul bersama orang lain dan bersenang-senang. Katie: I miss my Mum and Dad, I even miss my pesky brothers, and I really miss Chilli chicken the way they make it at home!

L1: Saya kangen ibu dan ayah saya, saya bahkan kangen pada adik-adik laki-laki saya yang suka usil, dan saya benar-benar kangen ayam cabe seperti yang dimasak di rumah!

Jenny: Well that’s easy. I know a place where they cook traditional food from your country. Let’s go there for dinner tomorrow night!

L1: Oh itu gampang. Saya tahu tempat dimana ada makanan tradisional dari negaramu. Yuk kita makan disana besok malam!

Katie: Could we?

L1: Sungguh?

Jenny: Of course. And you can invite a friend if you like.

L1: Tentu saja. Dan kamu boleh mengajak satu teman kalau mau.
